Corona-activated protein D614G is not as dangerous as the epidemic in Bangladesh (2021)

Scientists in the country are playing an important role in finding out the genetic features of the coronavirus. As of July 16, scientists in the country have uncovered the complete genome sequence of 222 coronaviruses. A team of scientists at the Genomic Research Center of the Bangladesh Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) has sequenced the entire genome of 181 coronaviruses.

According to BCSIR scientists, the coronavirus in Bangladesh has already undergone 590 changes at its genomic level and 283 at the protein level. A coronavirus contains 1,264 proteins. Of these, protein number 'D614G' is active in Bangladesh. Chief Scientific Officer of the Genomic Research Center. Selim Khan said that in the countries where the corona epidemic had spread, a protein called 348 to 512 in the virus gene was severely active, but had not yet been found in Bangladesh.

The complete genetic secrecy of these 222 coronaviruses has been published in Germany's Global Initiative in Sharing All Influenza Data (GSAID) and the US National Center for Biotechnological Information (NCBI). In addition to BCSIR, nine government and non-government organizations are working to unravel the genetic mystery of the coronavirus. Thus, the speed, nature and behavioral characteristics of coronavirus are known. All the information is hidden inside the gene. The process of conversion to an animal or coronavirus is understood by uncovering the secretion of genes. This makes it easier to make vaccines by understanding the nature of the virus.

Types of coronavirus in the country are 'exceptions':

Talking to BCSIR scientists, it was learned that the coronavirus of Bangladesh has already undergone 590 mutations at the genomic stage and 263 mutations at the protein stage. A coronavirus contains 1,264 proteins. The type of coronavirus infected in the country shows that out of these 1,284, the 'D614G' protein number is active here. This protein is the main cause of coronavirus infection in Bangladesh. Scientists found that the protein was not restricted to 95% of coronaviruses, which were active in Scientists at the Genomic Research Center say the type of coronavirus that has spread in Bangladesh is different.

Revealing the secret of coronavirus, they said that coronavirus changes rapidly in different environments. As a result, vaccine production is being delayed. Vaccines could be made more quickly if the body's protein and nucleotide levels of the coronavirus were not so much converted. However, the dangerous proteins responsible for epidemic virus infection are not yet active in Bangladesh.

Chief Scientific Officer of the Genomic Research Center. Selim Khan told Prothom Alo that in the countries where the corona epidemic has spread, the genes of the coronavirus were severely active from 348 to 512, which has not yet been seen in Bangladesh. This is a relief. However, as the coronavirus changes rapidly, it is important to continue working to unravel its gene mystery on a large scale. Prothom Alo said that BCSIR scientists are doing that. Selim Khan. The research team at the Genomic Research Center, in collaboration with the National Laboratory of Medicine and Referral Center, continues to collect patient samples and medical histories from across the country.

The research team started working on the gene secret of coronavirus on May 23. The research team unveiled the genome sequence of the coronavirus for the first time on March 23, published in the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GSAID) in Germany. In addition to the coronavirus data, information on other diseases of the patient or various viruses or bacterial infections is also available. These kits were purchased with surviving money from the project to establish a genomic research centre.

Scientists say the presence of viruses and bacteria known as influenza, pneumonia and diarrhea has been found among those infected with the coronavirus that has spread in Bangladesh.

Scientists at the Genomic Research Center say that the complete gene mystery of the 7555 coronaviruses has been uncovered in an international database worldwide. In India, 1,579 coronavirus genes have been detected.
